Notion for Job Searching: The System That Got Me 3 Offers in 6 Weeks

A spreadsheet tracks applications. A system lands offers.

Most job seekers keep a spreadsheet with company names, dates applied, and maybe a status column. That's tracking, not managing. The difference matters when you're juggling 30+ applications across different stages, preparing for 4 interviews in one week, and trying to remember which recruiter said to follow up on Thursday.

The system that works

1. Pipeline, not list. Think of your job search like a sales funnel. Applications move through stages: Researching → Applied → Phone Screen → Interview → Offer → Negotiating. A kanban board lets you see your entire pipeline at a glance and know exactly where to focus your energy.

2. Interview prep per company. Every company gets its own prep page: company research, role requirements, questions to ask, your STAR stories mapped to their job description, and compensation research. When you walk into an interview, you open that page and you're prepared.

3. Networking isn't optional. Track every person you talk to: name, company, how you met, what you discussed, and when to follow up. The hidden job market is real — referrals convert at 10x the rate of cold applications. Your networking hub should be as organized as your application tracker.

4. Follow up or lose out. A "next action" property on every application tells you what needs to happen next. Filter for "follow up this week" every Monday. This one habit doubles your response rate.

5. Evaluate offers rationally. When you have multiple offers (and with a system, you will), you need a decision framework. An offer evaluation matrix that scores each offer on your actual priorities — compensation, remote flexibility, growth, culture, benefits — removes emotional decision-making.

Building this in Notion

You need three databases (applications, contacts, interview prep), a kanban view, and a weekly review routine. Build it yourself in a couple hours, or duplicate the Job Search Command Center which has all of this plus a negotiation playbook, resume manager, and STAR story framework — ready in 2 minutes.

Your next role is out there. Stop scrolling job boards and start working a system.
